IRON AGESAXONS

Ancient Naked Figure

This 60m tall club-wielding representation of a human male has long been considered a sign of fertility.

The estimated age of the Cerne Giant, based on archeological study, suggests it was created in the late Saxon period between 700 and 1100CE.

Enjoy a gentle stroll from the village of Cerne Abbas, near to Dorchester, and there is a viewing area away from the road. Direct access to the giant is restricted for reasons of erosion.
