Max Gate is a Victorian house designed by Thomas Hardy and was his home between 1885 and his death in 1928. It still contains several pieces of his furniture.
Whilst living at Max Gate, Hardy penned several key works including Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Jude the Obscure and The Mayor of Casterbridge.
