MEDIEVAL / MIDDLE AGESREFORMATIONFounded in 705 as a cathedral and operating as a Benedictine abbey between 998 and the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century, Sherborne Abbey is now the parish church of Sherborne.
A living, working church with regular worship sessions and ministry, regular planned tours take place on different days of the week. In addition, a dedicated schools visit co-ordinator can help organise sessions covering most curriculum subjects for all key stages that relate back to the Abbey in some way.
Sherborne Abbey is great for all ages, but perhaps a little overwhelming for the very youngest visitors
