The island of Brownsea sits in the middle of Poole Harbour and is only accessible by foot passenger ferry. Offering thriving natural habitats including woodland, heathland and a lagoon, this is an ideal haven for wildlife such as red squirrels and a huge variety of birds.
Several industries have thrived on Brownsea over the years including a pottery and various types of farming. Remnants of all this still remain, along with the deserted village of Maryland which once housed workers.
