INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTIONMEDIEVAL / MIDDLE AGESREFORMATIONHoused in the former gatehouse and almonry of the monastery once associated with the Abbey, the museum is dedicated to the geological, historical, social and industrial heritage of the town and its surrounding villages.
Highlights include a unique medieval wall painting, a digital version of the Sherborne Missal (15th century manuscript detailing the texts required for celebrating Mass on the different feast days), and large photographic archive.
There are regularly changing temporary exhibitions, some created by local schools.
Sherborne Museum is great for all ages, but perhaps a little overwhelming for the very youngest visitors
