INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTIONVICTORIANSIn this fascinating museum and local village trail, students will learn all about the origins of the trade union beginning with the real-life story of the Tolpuddle Martyrs - a group of local workers banished to Australia for their 'crime' which led to mass protests to parliament.
The museum is a modern, informative and educational exhibition using interactive touchscreens to tell the story in an engaging way, along with an ad-hoc collection of relevant artefacts. It sits in the the Tolpuddle Martyrs' Memorial Cottages, built in 1934 to mark the centenary of the Martyrs' conviction.
Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum is great for all ages, but perhaps a little overwhelming for the very youngest visitors
